Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life, and at Laura Reynolds Artistry, we’re here to help you look and feel your absolute best. A big part of making sure everything is perfect is your bridal hair and makeup trial! Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect during your trial and how to get the most out of it.
What Happens at Your Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial

Think of your bridal trial as a sneak peek of your wedding day glam. You’ll get one full makeup look and one hairstyle, with time for tweaks and changes until you’re in love with the final result. Here’s what the session will include:
Consultation: We’ll kick things off by chatting about your wedding vibe, your personal style, and any inspo pics you’ve got (whether from Pinterest or our portfolio). NOTE: If you don't have an idea of what to do and do not have photos, we recommend rescheduling your appointment until you can give us direction.
Skin & Hair Analysis: We’ll take a close look at your skin type and hair texture to pick the best products and techniques for you. Skin care prep and recommendations will also be discussed tailored to your needs.
Makeup Application: We’ll do a full face of makeup based on your preferences, starting off with light skin prep, checking in to make sure you are liking the direction of colors, and intensity as we go along.
Hairstyling: Whether you're after loose waves, a classic updo, or something in between, we’ll style your hair to fit your vision. And yes, we’ll make any necessary tweaks to perfect it. Recommendations for face framing pieces, hair cuts/ trims, color updates, or incorporating extensions will be discussed. Minor face framing trim's are included if needed and desired.
Final Review: Once we’re done, we’ll go over the entire look with you and make any final adjustments.
What to Bring to Your Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial
To make the most of your trial, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s a quick checklist of things you’ll want to have with you:
White or Light-Colored Top: Wear something similar to your wedding dress color so you can really see how your hair and makeup will look.
Bridal Accessories: Bring your earrings, necklace, and any other accessories you’re planning to wear on the big day.
Veil & Hair Pieces: If you have a veil or other hair accessories (like a headpiece or flowers), bring them along! We’ll incorporate them into your hairstyle.
Hair Extensions: Planning on using extensions? Don’t forget to bring them to the trial! If you haven’t purchased them yet, we can recommend where to find high-quality ones at www.luxyhair.com or bellamihair.com
Inspiration Photos: Have some ideas in mind. Bring photos of makeup and hairstyles you love to help guide us in creating the perfect look. If you skip this step we may spend to much time consulting and moving in the wrong direction.
Tips for a Smooth Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial
Skin & Hair Prep: Arrive with clean, exfoliated, moisturized skin. Hair should be 100% clean of any build up of oil or product and 100% dry. Use a clarifying shampoo from Paul Mitchell or Redkin to remove any build up in your hair before your trial and wedding day. Natural curly hair brides, if you are using your natural texture in your style arrive with your curl routine set and dry. If you want a different texture than your natural curls arrive with a blow dry or book us for a blow dry in advance. Avoid the straightening iron as it will prevent a curl from holding when we are styling.
Be Honest: Don’t hold back! Let us know what you love and what you’d like to change. Your feedback is key to nailing your wedding day look. We rely on your honesty to do our very best!
Consider Extra Trials: If you’re thinking about trying out more than one look (like a different hairstyle for the reception), book additional trials to make sure we have enough time to explore each option. Why a Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial is a Must
A trial run isn’t just for fun—it’s a key part of your wedding prep. It is a dress rehearsal, allowing us to make tweaks and changes in advance!
Perfect Your Look: We’ll make sure your hair and makeup are exactly how you’ve envisioned them.
Test Products: We’ll figure out which products work best for your skin and hair type to ensure everything lasts all day and feels comfortable.
