Limited Bridal Suite Access on Your Wedding Day? Here’s How to Make Hair and Makeup Work

Many wedding venues only allow a short window in the bridal suite, often just enough time to get dressed and take photos. If your venue has limited bridal suite access, there may not be enough time to complete all hair and makeup services without rushing.
At Laura Reynolds Artistry, we believe your wedding morning should feel calm and organized, not compressed. Here are the professional solutions that keep your timeline intact.

Option 1: Start Hair and Makeup at a Different Location
If your venue only provides a couple of hours, it is typically intended as a dressing and photo space rather than a full glam preparation area.
Most brides in this situation choose to begin hair and makeup at a hotel suite, Airbnb, rental property, or private residence. Once everyone is finished, the bridal party travels to the venue to get dressed and meet the photographer.
Concerned about getting ready photos? Most of these images are staged after the bride is fully finished. Your photographer can create beautiful touch up moments using the bridal touch up kit. The final images look polished and intentional without needing active services happening in the background.

Option 2: Finish the Bride First
If you must use the venue for hair and makeup, Laura Reynolds Artistry can prioritize completing the bride by a specific time, along with a VIP if needed. The remaining bridal party members can be finished while the bride begins photography.
This can help the photography timeline and keeps the day moving smoothly.
It is also important to know that most venues allow you to purchase early access hours. However, depending on the venue’s pricing, it may be more economical to add an additional artist from Laura Reynolds Artistry to shorten your time frame instead of paying for extended access.
Option 3: Start at One Location and Then Move
Another solution is beginning hair and makeup at one location and relocating to the venue to finish.
Keep in mind that artists need approximately 10 to 15 minutes to set up and 10 to 15 minutes to break down, in addition to drive time and loading and unloading vehicles. Proper buffer time must be built into the schedule to prevent delays.
This option includes an artist re-location convenience fee, but when structured carefully it can work very well.
Option 4: Add an Additional Artist
If relocating or early venue access is not possible, adding another artist can significantly shorten your wedding morning timeline. This is often the calmest and most efficient option.
As a general guideline, Laura Reynolds Artistry schedules one Master Artist for approximately 6 to 8 services. Bridal services take about 60 minutes each. Bridal party services take about 30 to 45 minutes each depending on complexity of style or makeup look and amount of hair.
Adding an additional artist allows services to happen simultaneously and shorten the overall timeline. Weekend and peak season availability may be limited, and additional artist fees apply.
Timeline Reality Check
A successful wedding morning requires an achievable time window, punctual bridal party members, dry hair, and prompt seating in the styling chair. We intentionally build in buffer time for adjustments and touch ups. When everyone is prepared and on time, the entire day flows beautifully.
The Bottom Line
Limited bridal suite access does not mean stress. It simply requires strategic planning.
Whether you choose to get ready offsite, prioritize finishing the bride first, move locations, purchase early access from your venue, or add an additional artist through Laura Reynolds Artistry, there is always a solution.
The key is creating a realistic hair and makeup timeline that supports your wedding day schedule while protecting the quality of your services and your overall experience. As full time wedding pros, we always have a solution! xoxo

being a bridesmaid usually means sitting around for hours while everyone else gets their hair and makeup done. i remember at my best friends wedding i spent half the morning looking for unblocked games on my phone just to stay awake in the bridal suite. laura reynolds artistry is so right about getting ready elsewhere if the venue only gives you a short window because rushing is the worst.
